Weekly tips, affirmations, and small actions to feel your best.

Cosmic Views for April of 2021

The cosmic views for April 2021 reveal that Jupiter is a faster-moving planet than Saturn, and this month they have separated. By the middle of May, Jupiter leaves Aquarius and enters Pisces, bringing needed expansion and opportunity to those with this sign. At the beginning of the month, Saturn trines Mars and for the first few days, focus on work, and you’ll get an enormous amount done. Mars pushes the boundaries of Saturn, and Saturn slows down the impatience of Mars, allowing them both to function more efficiently than they do alone.  Mars gets added help from Jupiter, which rules abundance and expansion.

This lasts until it enters Cancer on the 24th, creating high energy and enthusiasm, along with hope for a better future. Saturn and Uranus square each other this month, representing the frustration everyone feels on slowly opening up and getting back to normal. Saturn is cautious, and Uranus is at risk. They’ll be in a battle for a while. The square indicates we won’t get it right immediately. There will be trial and error, and it’s better to error on the cautious side, depending on the consequences.

On the fifth, Mercury enters Aries and communication increases along with activities and travel. Fast-moving, it moves into Taurus on the 20th and conjuncts Uranus until the end of the month. This is a time of creative ideas and unexpected changes. Go with the flow, postpone a definitive decision until after the Full Moon In Scorpio on the 27th. Scorpio brings to the surface financial issues and humanitarian causes. Consistency will enter the picture, but not for a few more months, according to the cosmic views.

Astrologer Linda Joyce sums it up like this– it is a time to take care of the essentials and help your neighbor do the same. When you help others out, the universe doesn’t forget.

Cosmic Views for Aries (March 21st – April 20th)

cosmic viewsAs an Aries, you’re impatient, so this year has not been easy. If you’re not moving forward or being challenged, you’re unhappy. Saturn, a ruler of your 10th house of career, is square Mars in Gemini. Things at work are challenging. You’re not getting as much done as is required. Another possibility is that you are overworked, and it’s not possible to get done what others demand. This continues until the 24th, when Mars enters Cancer.

Uranus is in your house of finance and will be for a few more years. It’s important to keep your eye on how you make and spend money. Uranus squares Saturn for the whole month, so you may struggle with how much to spend or where to put the finances you do have available. Venus enters Taurus on the 15th, and things begin to improve financially, but change is still in the air. Money may come in and go out, so be cautious.

Mercury enters your sign from the 5th to the 20th, increasing communication and activities. Don’t be surprised if you plan a short trip or get out of your usual surroundings. The Full Moon in your 8th house opposite Uranus brings to a head all the challenges you have been coping with. Don’t get overwhelmed.

Jupiter trine Mars keeps you hopeful about the future, despite the challenges you face. It’s all about adjusting to what you can’t change and focusing on what you can.

If you’re in a relationship, there are no new problems, just an attempt to resolve the old ones. You’re working in harmony, and that’s a great beginning. If you’re single, it’s a good time to meet others. If friends want to fix you up — accept.

Taurus (April 21st – May 20th)

Taurus is led by desire. Your on-going mission is to be stronger than the rebel in you that has trouble saying no to itself.  When you establish self-discipline, you succeed. It’s as simple as that. Uranus is in your sign until July of 2025. Things don’t settle down until then, but the more you embrace the energy, the easier it gets.  What it does is keep you on your toes.

It would be best if you were vigilant in what you do and how you do it. Restraint and self-denial keep your focus clear and you on your path. Once you can count on yourself, you’ll be able to rely on others. See it as your savior, not a curse. With Saturn square Uranus, you’ll experience career challenges this month. Change is happening that makes it difficult for you to get comfortable.

Patience is not your best quality, and it’s demanding now. If you can, keep yourself from responding immediately, it will allow you to have more than one option. Venus enters your sign on the 15th, and you feel connected and safe. Venus is your ruler, and when it’s in good aspect to other planets, life falls into place.

Mercury enters Aries on the 5th in the 12rh house. This placement puts it out of your control, and the universe decides what gets done, not you. On the 20th, it enters Taurus and conjuncts Uranus. You may explode. Holding in your feelings is not your best quality. The cosmic views warn you–just don’t burn any bridges.

The Full Moon on the 27th in Scorpio brings relationships to a head. Someone may have to go, but only if they’re not good for you. If you’re in a relationship, it will be a challenging month, depending on what you have to work out between you. Don’t just react. Think of the big picture.

If you’re single, it’s not a good time for a long-lasting relationship, but it could be a good time to meet new people.

Gemini (May 21st – June 20th)

Gemini is one of the busiest signs of the zodiac. You don’t know how to sit still. Leaning to take care of yourself before you put others first is important. If you don’t, you’ll appear selfish to others, even when you’ve been the giver.

When you don’t speak up when something happens, it makes no difference when you do. Saturn and Jupiter are separating, and by May, Jupiter, the planet of abundance and expansion, will be in your 10th house of goals and career. You’re on your way to a bonus or a promotion. If you work for yourself, an opportunity may come your way.

Venus enters Taurus on the 15th, and a feeling of connectedness and harmony emerges. Venus conjuncts Uranus until the end of the month, bringing unexpected changes that demand you take charge and adapt. Saturn square Uranus for most of the month indicates a battle between freedom and boundaries. Just meet each moment the best that you can, and it will all work out. The Full Moon in your 6th house of work brings your schedule to a head. It opposes Uranus, and once again your sense of freedom is at the center of the crisis.

Mercury, your ruler, enters Aries on the 5th and Taurus on the 20th. When it gets to Taurus, it will conjunct Uranus, and new ideas or ways of coping with your situation will show their face. Listen to your gut, and don’t be afraid to come out of your safety zone.

If you’re in a relationship, things should be okay. Jupiter is happy in Aquarius. It has independence which it loves. If you’re single, you may meet someone good at juggling life as crazy as you are. Who knows, it may be a good fit.

Cosmic Views for Cancer (June 21st – July 22nd)

Cancer is a water sign, and water rules your creativity, intuition, and emotions. If you’re a Cancer, you begin this month with a trine to the Moon, your ruler. A SunMoon trine brings harmony from within and without, so it is always welcome.

The Sun sextile Saturn adds structure and strength to your vision. Remember, with a sextile. You have to do the work. It doesn’t just happen. Get out of your comfort zone and create what you want. Saturn square Uranus brings a battle between freedom and structure.  Relationships, business and personal, are going through changes, and it may shift how you see yourself when it comes to commitment. Normally, you’re a person of habit, so change is not easily embraced.

Mars trine Jupiter and Saturn keep you working to both expand and set proper boundaries. These opposite planets work together when you don’t do things in extreme. Mars square Neptune keeps your fantasies high and confusion strong. If you want clarity, you may have to look at the truth.

Remember, without truth. You can build anything stable. With the Sun in your 10th house in the cosmic view for April of 2021, your focus is on your goals and how to get ahead when it comes to your career. The Full Moon in Scorpio brings out your strength. It’s time to take a stand and not let others push you around or demand more than they should.

If you’re in a relationship, making your partner happy will not be a problem. If you’re single, it’s a great time to meet others, although I would suggest you don’t rely on the taste of your friends. They don’t understand what you’re looking for.

Leo (July 23rd – August 22nd)

Leo is fire, and they have the power to inspire others to follow their lead. They prefer to be in charge or at the center of what’s happening. After all, that’s where the action is. With Mars in trine to both Saturn and Jupiter, things are moving when it comes to your aspirations and dreams. You feel energized and certain about what needs to be done and your ability to accomplish the tasks before you.

The square Mars makes to Neptune keeps your fantasies and old delusions strong, don’t hold on to what isn’t true, or you’ll be more susceptible to mistakes. Find the strength to see the truth, even if it’s difficult, and you’ll come out ahead. Pluto in Capricorn makes a sextile to Neptune and Mercury — your creative energy is strong. Pay attention to the ideas that come your way. They’re there to inspire and get you moving forward.

Venus enters Taurus on the 20th and conjuncts Uranus. You will be asked to see your career in a new light. Embrace change. It will work in your favor. Uranus square Saturn reveals the battle between risk and caution – find a middle road. One moment requires risk; another the opposite. Meet each challenge individually.

The cosmic views tell you that work improves after the 24th when Pluto goes direct. The Full Moon in Scorpio brings conflict into your private life. It may be nothing more than an adjustment. Full Moons reveal what’s hidden.

If you’re in a relationship, you’re suddenly aware of the truth and what was hidden. Pay attention, and it won’t happen again.  Things are good if a few changes can be made. Go with the flow. If you’re single, it may be difficult to get closer to the people you want to. Remember, it’s all about timing. Don’t give up.

Virgo (August 23rd – September 22nd)

Virgo is earth. There is something very primal and basic about this sign. No matter how outrageous you can be, there is a part of you that enjoys being grounded and in control. Mercury, your ruler, makes a trine to the Moon at the beginning of the month.

It won’t last long, but it will help you express how you feel, and that’s an accomplishment. As a Virgo, emotions are things you avoid, or if you embrace them, they take over your life. Mercury square Mars brings up your anger. There are things you disagree with, and it’s important to take a stand. Anger is there to make you aware of what needs to be looked at. However, it’s important not to hang on to it, or it will work against you and your health.

Venus enters Taurus on the 15th and conjuncts Uranus, affecting your house of work and aspirations. Changes may be made. Acceptance is the key to success at the moment. Save your frustration for when it’s productive. Jupiter is lingering at the end of Aquarius, and by May 14th, it enters Pisces, your house of relationships. Jupiter adds strength and support to wherever it goes, so relationships should improve.

Mars leaves Gemini and enters Cancer on the 24th, and you may hold on to your frustrations instead of letting them go. Not a good idea. Mercury enters Taurus on the 15th and conjuncts Uranus. The cosmic views suggest you’re ready to adjust your ideals and reshape them into something more real or attuned to your highest aspirations.

If you’re in a relationship, you’re still coping with Neptune in your 7th house, which clouds your ability to see the truth. If you’re happy, enjoy it. Neptune is square Mars until the 25th, so your partner may be upset until then. Give them distance. If you’re single, it’s a good time to fall in love, but it may not be real. So be careful.

cosmic viewsCosmic Views for Libra (September 23rd – October 22nd)

Libra is about truth, your truth, no one else’s. How much your truth blends with the collective may determine how easily you fit in or how difficult it will be to be heard. Venus, your ruler, enters Taurus on the 15th and conjuncts Uranus, the planet of unexpected happenings and change. Yes, fasten your seat belt. It’s you who’s changing, no one else.

With Mercury in Aries on the 5th, you’ll be direct and anxious to get things done. No dragging your feet. The month begins with a trine from the Sun to the Moon, a day or two when life is harmonious, and everything falls into place. Don’t get too comfortable. Saturn and Uranus are still in square and butting heads. Part of you wants to change, and the other part wants to keep everything the same. You can’t have it both ways, and sooner or later, one will win. It’s really up to you.

Saturn and Jupiter are still in the same sign, and both are trine Mars. Things are getting done, you’re moving forward, and if you take in the big picture, you’re doing fine. Let go of the nonsense. The Full Moon in Scorpio on the 27th brings financial issues to a head. It is tax time, so I’m sure it’s on your mind.

Pluto at the end of Capricorn, sextile Neptune, and Mercury make work productive and good. You’ll be able to see how far your project or what you’re doing will turn out. Trust your instincts.

If you’re in a relationship, it’s center stage this month, and you’ll get along, and things will be productive and smooth. If you’re single, you’re idealistic until the 24th, so don’t trust yourself until after then.

Scorpio (October 23rd – November 21st)

Scorpio is a misunderstood sign, partly because you’re both spiritually and worldly powerful. When you own your power, you dare to enter the shadow and not be afraid. You meet life’s challenges with strength and a determination to get what you want to be done.

A Scorpio with a good heart can change the world. This Month beings with it a trine from the Sun to the Moon. Work and financial gain are in harmony. You see that you’re on the right track. With Mars trine both Saturn and Jupiter in Aquarius, things get done without much effort. Mars brings energy to wherever it is, say the cosmic views.

Saturn adds boundaries, and Jupiter expands and increases the energy that is there. All good. Mercury and Neptune are square Mars in Gemini until the 24th,  be careful of being delusional or too idealistic. If your feet are on the ground, you’ll accomplish a great deal. The Full Moon in your sign on the 27th brings your challenges to a head. This can affect all your relationships. Either you’re clear on what others are upset about, and you don’t care, or you’re in the clouds, and it’s time to get back to reality.

Venus enters Taurus on the 15th and conjuncts Uranus, the planet of change. Don’t be surprised if you’re surprised by the demands your partnerships make on you. They want something different, and if you’re not on board, they go ahead without you. Everything can be worked out if you let go of the control.

If you’re in a relationship, your partner is not calm or peaceful, too much going on. He or she has to make some major changes in their life for whatever reason, and of course, that affects you. They have no choice, so don’t add to the problem. Adjust. If you’re single, you’ll find relationships a bit chaotic at the moment. Meet people, have a good time, but keep your expectations low.

Cosmic Views for Sagittarius (November 22nd – December 21st)

Sagittarius is the sign of destiny. Many of you feel strongly that you were born with a purpose or a mission to accomplish. You live with an inner voice that speaks to you constantly. If you’re unclear on who you are and where you’re going, let go of the way you want things to be and see them as they are.

With your ruler, Jupiter, still in Aquarius and trine Mars, your energy is abundant. You’re pushing the boundaries of your life more than usual. There’s a need to get things going and out of the way.  Venus enters Taurus on the 15th and conjuncts Uranus, bringing change to your work and your friendships as well as the organizations or clubs you may belong to. As you emerge from this pandemic, you will see just how much you’ve been changed by the experience.

Uranus is square Saturn, and old boundaries are gone. It’s time to reinvent yourself, according to the cosmic views of April of 2021. Embrace the process. Mercury enters Taurus on the 20th, and it helps you reorganize your goals and career. It could bring you something you’ve been asking for. Make sure you say yes.

Uranus is in trine to your 10th house of work, so new paths and ideas will be knocking on the door. The Full Moon on the 27th emphasizes your issues around faith and the unexpected. Just because you can’t control what comes your way doesn’t mean it won’t be a gift from the Universe. Whatever happens, was meant to be.

If you’re in a relationship, it is not peaceful, primarily because of the constant array of unexpected challenges. It just takes time to adjust, and it could bring you closer together. If you’re single, it’s time to explore. Keep your options open.

Capricorn (December 22nd – January 19th)

The cosmic views suggest that the pressures of the last few years are beginning to lift. Pluto is still in your sign until March of 2023, but Saturn and Jupiter have moved into Aquarius, giving you a sense of freedom. You’re beginning to see the new path that before was only a dream. Whatever you have experienced this year has only made you stronger and wiser. Your ideals and goals are high.

With Mercury conjunct Neptune in Pisces, your feet may not be on the ground, and that’s okay, as long as you don’t stay there too long. And with the Sun and Venus in Aries, your vision is clear, and that’s what’s important.

With Saturn still square Uranus, there’s a back and forth between new ideas and possibilities. It’s time to let go of the past. The truth is, the world has changed, and we must adjust to the new environment. The worst thing you can do is attempt to recreate the past.

Routines are your talent. You create them wherever you are, and they give you a sense of security. When they change, you temporarily feel lost. Not for long. Venus enters Taurus on the 15th and conjuncts Uranus. This shifts how you feel about yourself and your goals. Your hard work has either paid off or not. If it has, then you’re on your way if it hasn’t, learn from your mistakes and try again.

Mercury enters Aries on the 5th, and your focus, for now, is on your home and getting things organized. It enters Taurus on the 20th, and the world around you becomes more exciting. The Full Moon on the 27th in Scorpio brings together friends and new organizations that might contribute to your new vision.

If you’re in a relationship, don’t be upset if there are disagreements on your goals. Just stay calm and express yourself. If you’re single, it’s a good time to have a good time. That’s something you do with little encouragement.

Aquarius (January 20th – February 18th)

You begin the month with Saturn, Mercury, and Jupiter in your sign square Uranus. Change is the key element of your life. Embrace it. You are being asked to see yourself and the world in a new light, and your new consciousness leads the way. What needs to shift is your attitude and perspective. It’s time to put yourself first.

The cosmic views predict that there will always be someone you care about in need. If they always come before you, then you won’t accomplish your goals. When you make new choices, you change your world.

Venus enters Taurus on the 15th and conjuncts Uranus. You see yourself and others differently, and it helps you move forward. The Full Moon in Scorpio on the 27th sets your career in motion. If you’re waiting for news, you may get it. Pluto, the ruler of your 10th house, is trine Mars bringing power and motivation to whatever you’re doing. Pluto remains in your 12th house of the unconscious, making sure you don’t hold on to what doesn’t serve you.

By June, Jupiter enters your 2nd house of finance, and a bonus or opportunity is waiting for you. With the Sun and Neptune in Pisces, along with Venus for the first half of the month, you may feel both poor and rich at the same time. There is an opportunity in the air, and if you have a plan, you can make it happen.  Remember what you believe you create. Beliefs are the building blocks of the universe. Never forget it. Pretending is better than not believing at all. If you’re in a relationship, there is conflict. Nothing lasting, so just have patience.

If you’re single, it’s a good time to put yourself out there, and at the same time, don’t expect too much. Whatever happens, will be exciting.

cosmic viewsCosmic Views for Pisces (February 19th – March 20th)

Pisces is the sign of all or nothing. You’re seldom interested in a compromise. Either your appetite is satisfied, or it’s not. And yes, you can be judgmental. You either have an opinion, and it’s strong, or you don’t have one at all. Mars in Gemini, Square Neptune, keeps you busy and either focused or unclear of your next step.

The truth is, clarity should not be a struggle. If you can just identify what’s essential and what isn’t, you’ll move forward. Jupiter rules your 10th house of career, and it’s slowly separating from Saturn, giving you a feeling of freedom and the ability to advance the way you desire.

By May, Jupiter will be in your sign, and then you have a few options. Saturn and Uranus are in square, and the battle between change and tradition continues. Change either thrill or terrifies you. However, now you don’t have many choices. The old way has been altered, and holding on to it only holds you back.

With the Sun and Venus in Aries, your vision is clear, so trust it. Pluto sextile Neptune and Mercury bring power to creative ideas and communication. This is your chance to get things going the way you’d like them to happen. The Full Moon in Scorpio is in opposition to Uranus, and whatever comes to a head will be more symbolic than real. You could see something or someone more clearly and change how important they are to you.

If you’re in a relationship, things are up in the air. It’s important to be clear on what you want and express it. If you’re single, it’s a good time to fall in love, but only from a distance. Whatever you’re feeling won’t last for long, but it could be fun.

pop meme11. I know that each moment of my day is a new chance to make a healthy choice.

The thing about making healthy choices is that it is never too late to begin. If you made unhealthy choices earlier in the day or even throughout the week, you can turn it around right now. Each moment you have is a chance to make a healthy choice.

That healthy choice could be to skip an unhealthy snack when you’re bored or choosing fruit instead. Making a healthy choice could also mean getting up and walking around after sitting for a while. Any healthy choice, no matter how small it seems, is a good choice.

12. I have the willpower to push through each exercise.

You can’t give up, especially in the middle of an exercise. No matter how intense it gets, keep pushing through. It is all about staying in the right mindset and telling yourself that you can and will do it.

13. I make the time to exercise and eat healthy foods.

An excuse that people often tell themselves is that they don’t have time to reach their fitness goals. You might say that you don’t have time to exercise or planning healthy meals and snacks is too time-consuming. If reaching your fitness goals is important to you, though, then you must find the time to make it happen.

14. I love myself and respect my body.

Self-love and self-respect are two things that can help you reach your fitness goals. These things may seem unrelated at first but with self-love and self-respect, taking care of your body becomes easier. 24 Foods That Help Avoid Diabetes

When you are looking to improve your metabolic health, there are certain foods and drinks that you should consume. Those with naturally higher metabolism tend to be thinner than others, even if they eat unhealthily. For everyone else, though, it is essential to avoid unhealthy foods and stick with foods that help improve your metabolism.

Your metabolism determines the way that your body burns fuel for energy. Increasing your metabolism can help you burn more calories, lose weight, or maintain your current weight.

A healthy metabolism helps with eliminating unwanted body fat, helping you feel better and look the way you want. It also can boost your energy, helping you with productivity and easing fatigue.

A diet rich in protein, iron, zinc, and selenium is the best for boosting your metabolism. Staying hydrated is essential, as well, because your body needs it to function properly. If you need ideas for foods and drinks that improve metabolic health, there are plenty to choose from.

24 Foods That Improve Metabolic Health

Having eggs for breakfast is one of the smartest things you can do. They fill you up and speed up your metabolism in the process thanks to their high protein content. Avoid frying them too often, however, and opt for hard-boiled eggs, instead.

2. Legumes

Legumes are high in protein and offer a wide variety of food options. They include the following:

  • lentils

Studies show that consuming a diet rich in legumes and pulses increases metabolism immensely. The study also shows that those who consumed the diet for eight weeks lost 1.5 times more weight than others.

3. Brazil Nuts

Rich in selenium, brazil nuts are the perfect snack for boosting your metabolism. Brazil nuts also contain protein, boosting the benefits to your metabolism. These nuts also help maintain healthy cholesterol levels, which can prevent things like metabolic syndrome.

4. Seeds

10 Behaviors That Reveal A Very Persuasive Person

Are you a leader or more of a follower? Leaders want to be in control because they have the knowledge and the skills to know what needs to be done. Those who sit under a great leader don’t feel like they’re being led because they know how to bring a group together to work in harmony. Why are these people able to be so persuasive?

Leaders are persuasive. They don’t need to stoop to manipulation or blackmail to get their people to do the task at hand. Individuals who lead can motivate others to do tasks that seem impossible and use innovative and intelligent ways to get the job done.

Ten Behaviors of The Persuasive

Do you see yourself as a persuasive person? Maybe you want to enhance these skills for a new position or to get ahead in life. Well, here are ten ways that you can be more persuasive.

persuasive1. Share Opposing Viewpoints

Disclosing the opposing viewpoints tends to be more influential than pushing only the benefits of your ideas. You may think your vision is perfect, but others know that there’s more than one way to get the job done. When you’re open and honest, address the negative aspects, then you can consider any problems that might occur before they happen.

People trust those that are honest and talk about potential issues and how to combat them. Those that act like they know everything will never gain respect from their leader.

2. Make a Stand When Necessary

Some people rely on data and their reasoning skills to persuade others. Sometimes, being a bit cocky might be for your benefit. Those under you will view your confidence as knowledge and skill.

Even the most skeptical person can’t help but feel persuaded when they see your confidence level. They will overlook your failures and focus on the future if you show them that you’re taking a stand because of your faith in this idea.

Persuasive people are bold and even daring at times. They will never use sentences that start with “I feel” or “I think.” This individual is confident in their abilities and opinions, and they’re not afraid to let their enthusiasm show.

3. Use the Fast-Talking Salesman Technique (Use Sparingly!)

Have you ever bought a car, and the salesmen had you test driving and signing on the dotted line before you knew what happened? To persuade others, you must do the same. Now, keep in mind that you don’t always need to chatter.

You only use this tactic if your audience is likely to disagree with what you’re saying. If your audience is agreeable, then you can talk slower. Since you know how to motivate the room, you speed up your speech when you don’t want people to form an objection, and you slow down when you know there is no opposition.

4. Know How to Work the Crowd

Jarrod worked in an office space. He didn’t like his supervisor because he was frustrating to understand. Whenever he tried to give his boss all the facts and figures about something, his boss would never entertain his ideas.

He always agreed with him initially, then he disagreed. This pattern was constant and frustrating to Jarrod as he felt like he wasn’t doing a good job. While Jarrod always blamed his boss, he suddenly realized that his boss wasn’t the problem, but the real issue was his delivery.

His boss was the type that needed time to think things over. You couldn’t go in there and demand an immediate answer from him as he was cautious. He needed time to reflect, and since he didn’t have it, he went with the safe solution of no.

When Jarrod changed his style to accommodate his boss’s needs, he finally got the answer he wanted. This fictional story demonstrates that you must know your target audience and how to work with them. Using tactics like reading facial expressions and body language can help direct the influential person on delivering.

5. Have Proof

To be influential in a topic, you must not only know that you’re right, but you must have some proof to show others. People are naturally defensive these days, so you need to combat that defensive mood with cold, hard evidence. Documentation is your friend, especially if it’s a hard sale.

Make the extra time and put in the effort to gather irrefutable proof to back up your claims. If you want to influence others, then you need to show them that you’re creditable.

bully a plant

IKEA’s Bully a Plant project proves the power of positivity can alter your outcome.

6. Find the Best Communication Method

There are many ways that you can communicate with others today. You can choose emails, in-person meetings, text messages, social media’s instant messengers, physical mail, phone, or robocalls. The diversity of the group you’re working with will dictate the method that’s used best.

According to Forbes Magazine, there are more than 205 billion emails sent each day. A study they referenced found that millennials don’t like to use the telephone anymore. They prefer digital communication.

They found that people prefer a text message or email because it’s not an interruption to their day as they can read them when they have time. Now, the older crowd tends to prefer phone calls. They’re not too tech-savvy and prefer to conduct business in an old-fashioned method.

To be influential with a group, the persuader must learn the appropriate ways to communicate.

7. Always Use Positive Outcome Statements

A person who uses scare tactics will never win the hearts of the masses. Instead, use positivity to motivate others. Most people will not respond favorably to being bullied into doing something. What if a manager told his employee, “If you don’t stop making so many mistakes, you’re going to be fired?”

The employee would be angry, hurt, and feel like he would soon be on the unemployment line. What if the manager said something like, “You know, I see you’re having a hard time with this task. Let me get someone to help you so that we can work on your accuracy.” The manager’s attitude was different; thus, the employee will respond to the positive nature more graciously.

8. Share Huge Ideas

Did you know that it’s just as challenging to do the smaller things as it is the larger ones? It would help if you always strived to do bigger and better things. When you dream big, everyone around you will want to see your vision and jump on board.

Have you ever wondered how millionaires grow companies that make them rich? It’s because they have the power to make their investors, employees, and all those around them interested and excited in their dreams. The influential person can make someone take a journey with them mentally and see visions of the future they never thought possible.

Look throughout history and consider monumental events like walking on the moon. Everyone got behind the idea because it was exciting and groundbreaking. The influential person knows how to do this every day with even the smallest of tasks.

9. Create Common Ground

Rather than jumping right in with their thoughts or opinions, the persuasive person tries to find common ground to build upon. The foundation is essential if you want to encourage others to see things your way. Always start with something the person or audience will agree with you on.

10. Know When to Show Selective Outrage

No one likes a hot-headed boss, but it’s okay to get a little riled up on occasion. Did you know that a study showed that people respond better when a curse word is used in certain statements? You should never curse for the sake of using foul language but using a swear name can make your argument more believable.

What if the group you’re working with is not doing their job and want to get their attention? Using stronger language can help to show urgency and that you care. An effective leader uses tactics meant to motivate and not manipulate but showing that your angry or worked up can’t hurt.

It’s okay to let your frustrations show on occasion as you’re human, and they need to see the human side of a leader. However, please don’t make it an everyday habit, or it loses its effectiveness. FYI, a study conducted found that people who cuss a little bit have a higher tolerance to pain too.

persuasiveFinal Thoughts on Persuasive Motivators

The persuasive person doesn’t always know the tactics and methods they use to lead, but they somehow manage to still be in charge. If you want to be effective in leadership and influence others, you learn how to motivate without using blackmail or scare tactics.

Some people tend to be natural-born leaders, while others must learn things as they go. Whatever position you find yourself in life, you can learn to be more persuasive by mimicking some of the behaviors listed above.

25 Behaviors That Reveal You Are Chasing Money Instead of Happiness

Are you chasing money, or do you desire to be happy in life? Money doesn’t buy happiness, but many people strive to hoard cash in bank accounts, investments, and the stock market. Why is the love of money referred to as the root of all evil?

You need cash to survive. You wouldn’t have a house, car, or groceries on your table without income. Where is the line that you must draw between needing a job to provide for your family and becoming obsessed with making cash?

It’s a ticklish balance that some mismanage. Your ego needs you to provide for your family to be successful, but other things in life are more meaningful. Money isn’t going to hold your hand when you’re sick, and it won’t be there for you when you take your last breath.

You can’t take it with you when you pass, and it will give your children something to argue about for years to come. Why do people make their whole journey on the planet earth about making the beloved green stuff?

25 Behaviors That Show You’re Chasing Money

chasing moneyHow are your priorities in life? Does your family come first, or do you look to your job and becoming successful as your most important drive?

4. You Brown Nose to Climb the Corporate Ladder

You schmooze with the best to get where you need to be. Maybe you don’t choose your friends based on who you like. Instead, you select your in-crowd to be those who can move you up the corporate ladder.

You’re all work and no play. Who has time for hobbies when that could cost you a big sale or money you need to put in the bank?

You don’t mind working more than the average person. If you check back through your hours worked, you probably are busy with your job way more than most people.

8. You Devalue Personal Priorities

Your family can’t count on you for things around the house or relationship needs. Everyone knows you are married to your career and the pursuit of money, so you have little time for anything else.

9. Who Needs Lunch Break Anyway?

Who has time for lunch when you have things that need to be done? You get so caught up in chasing money that you work through your breaks and eat while you work. Your health suffers because your diet consists of whatever you can grab on the go.

10. You Are Stressed When You’re Not Working

If you take time off, you feel stressed out. Your mind is a million miles away because all you can think about is making more money and all the work you have waiting for you.

11. Who Needs A Vacation?

You probably haven’t taken a vacation in a long time. Even if the family ropes you into a trip, you will bring a laptop and work using remote access.

12. You Work Even When You’re Sick

Sick days equals downtime, and you have no time to be down. You go to the office even if you feel like you’re on death’s door.

perfectionism

Here are five compelling reasons to stop trying to be perfect.

13. You Hide Work from Loved Ones

Whether it’s on vacation or at home, you often hide work from your family to keep the peace. How many times have you snuck your laptop into the bathroom or made a run to the local carryout to make business calls?

14. You Tend to Micromanage Everyone Around You

You’re a dictator because, in your world, you know what needs to be done and how it needs to be accomplished. Your family thinks you micromanage them because you cannot leave the management role as it’s who you are.

15. You Don’t Know How to Say “No” To Business Opportunities

One problem that you have is that you can’t say no to anyone, especially your boss. You run yourself ragged because you fear you say no; it could burn a bridge to another great opportunity.

16. Your Friends Stop Asking You to Go Out Because They Know You Won’t

You have friends, but they know that you’re always too busy to go out with them. You may not answer texts or phone calls, so they don’t even bother anymore.

17. You Overbook Yourself Continuously

You meet yourself coming and going. Perhaps you want so badly to have a secure future that you don’t have a minute to enjoy life. You remember a day when you just relaxed.

18. You Always Dream of Being Rich

While other people are having daydreams of romance and weddings, you daydream about how much is in your bank account. You think about hitting the lottery or how you will live when you make it rich.

19. You Won’t Spend a Dime Even If You Need Too

Those who are chasing money tend to be penny pinchers. Every dime counts, so you will scrimp on the necessities so that you can save your money for things to impress others or to hoard into a bank account.

20. You Stay with a Job You Hate Because You Like The Pay

Who cares if you don’t like your job and it makes you miserable? You were meant to work, and that doesn’t always mean it’s going to be pleasant. You stay with a company based on pay and not your comfort level.

21. Everything in Your Conversation Is About Money

People often find it hard to talk to you because all your conversations are about money. You are obsessed with the green stuff and make everything in your life about it. It’s a boring conversation for those who want to be happy and could care less about materialism.

22. Never Satisfied with What You Have – Always Wanting More

You can’t remember a time in your life where you have ever been satisfied with what you had financially. There is no set limit on where your comfort level is, as there is always room for more.

23. You Look Down on Others Who Don’t Focus on Wealth

Those with less money are just those who are lazy and won’t work. You see no reason for anyone not to have money when there are so many opportunities out there. You tend to be a bit judgmental of others who are down on their luck.

24. You Choose the Wealthiest People as Your Friends

Not just any friend will do for you. You surround yourself with movers and shakers who have plenty of money to spread around. You wouldn’t be caught with people who don’t have prestige and immense wealth.

25. Your Self-Worth Is Defined by Work Success

Like others, you define your self-worth in this life by how much money you make. If you don’t provide enough for your family, then you feel worthless. Your workaholic ways are stemming from feelings of insecurity about yourself.

It’s effortless to get your priorities out of alignment when the world you live in is focused on bigger and better. You strive to “keep up with the Smiths and Jones” as it’s socially acceptable. However, chasing money will never buy you any happiness.

Oh sure, the euphoric thrill that comes from buying a new home or car lasts for a while, but those material possessions can never keep you warm at night. Put your focus on being content, being kind to others, and loving your family. All the rest will be just bonuses from the universe.

10 Habits That Will Grow Your Self-Confidence (In 30 Days or Less)

Self-confidence can best be defined as a feeling of near-certainty or clear-headedness regarding a topic. Whether it involves skill level, knowledge predicted outcomes, or yourself. Being confident in yourself is a massive benefit to your overall self-esteem and self-perception, and it’s a valuable trait that can open doors and help you grab opportunities.

For many people, self-confidence is challenging to come by and hard to build. Thankfully, there are things you can do in your everyday life that boost that feeling. Here are ten habits that skyrocket your self-confidence.

1.    Reading

Reading is a lot of fun, but did you know that it may help your self-confidence on top of that? Whether you read fiction, non-fiction, or even non-traditional books, you can aid your self-esteem through reading. Here are some ways that this works:

self-confidence·         It’s Escapism

The task is a beautiful method of escapism. It’s almost akin to meditation – it transports you to other worlds, allowing you to stop thinking about your worries and stress. While you shouldn’t simply ignore all your negative feelings, sometimes a little time away from them can grant you new insight or reduce those feelings.

·         It Breaks Cycles

Negative loops of thinking are a widespread cause of decreased self-confidence. Reading is capable of taking you out of that mindset, bringing your mind elsewhere. When you return to groundedness, you’ll have broken the negative cycle and can revisit your thought patterns anew.

·         It Teaches

Non-fiction books can teach you all sorts of new skills and knowledge, and what you learn can be carried forward into your everyday life. This boosts your self-confidence in your abilities and skills.

2.    Seeking Discomfort

It can seem strange to seek out discomfort. Why would you want to actively leave your comfort zone and give yourself more anxiety and stress? What a wild concept! But, as it turns out, a reluctance to go anywhere beyond a safe little bubble is actually very, very bad for you.

You won’t be able to grow for as long as you stay within your comfort zone. This sounds nice, but it also means that any unplanned-for situation that puts you outside of what you’re used to can send your self-esteem plummeting. You’ll be out of your depth with no practice in managing anything out of the ordinary!

This is why confident people challenge themselves so much. Putting yourself at risk by seeking discomfort seems daunting, but it also ensures that you’re continually moving forward. It allows you to:

  • Sharpen new skills and learn new things
  • Realize how much you’re capable of and what you’re able to do
  • Have new experiences that broaden your perspective of the world
  • Get comfortable with less-than-ideal situations.
  • Get better and smarter at taking intelligent risks.

There’s no feeling quite as confidence-boosting as the ability to climb out of a difficult situation with your head held high. So go out there and seek a little bit of discomfort in your life!

3.    Meditating

Meditation is often ridiculed for being some weird form of spiritualist habit, but it’s scientifically proven to have positive results on your mind, body, and confidence. It can reduce anxiety, stress, and more by merely lowering resting heart rate and blood pressure.

For many people, stress and anxiety are the fundamental causes of drops in self-esteem. It’s hard to feel good about yourself when nothing feels good anywhere. Meditation allows you to get in touch with yourself, letting you confront your problems safely and mindfully while building your confidence through introspection.

4.    Socializing

There are endless jokes about how introverted people hate socializing or how social activities are scary to the average person. But if you continue to perpetuate the idea that you shouldn’t socialize, all you’re doing ruin your self-confidence even more.

There are many different ways to socialize, and each method brings you closer to others and allows you to practice your relationship skills. Finding people you connect with boosts your confidence thanks to your support system while interacting with anyone keeps you in touch with the world, so your spirit stays up. You can socialize by:

  • Joining online communities for things you love
  • Networking with people in your industry
  • Being active on social media
  • Contacting friends and family regularly
  • Going on outings with friends and family
  • Meeting new people

5.    Celebrating Differences

A lot of times, your differences could be what make you dislike yourself. You compare yourself to others, see where you don’t meet arbitrary standards you’ve set in your head based on others, and then hide what you perceive as your “flaws.”

It’s easy to see how this kind of thinking would slowly but surely ruin your self-esteem. You always chase after unfair ideals and fall short, so all you can do is wish you were like other people. It’s a toxic way of thinking and doesn’t help anyone.

You need to stop thinking that differences are bad things! It’s okay to be different, and in fact, it’s usually better that way. The world needs all sorts of diversity to function in any exciting or workable capacity. Your weaknesses are someone else’s strengths, and your powers are someone else’s weaknesses. Instead of driving each other apart due to comparison, working together is the real way to live more fully!

Celebrate your differences and the differences of others. You’re unique, and one-of-a-kind and your variations should be embraced and showed off. Use your positive thinking and focus on all the ways that your differences make you great!

daily positive affirmations6.    Being Prepared

Some people believe that being unprepared is a sign of confidence. They think that coming in with nothing and showing off how well they can improvise proves just how much confidence they have. It’s an appealing idea, but it’s also not one that’s recommended, especially if you want to improve your self-esteem.

Self-confidence is not about ignorance, arrogance, and immaturity. No one has all of life figured out, and no one is invincible. While over-preparing isn’t good, under-preparing is arguably worse, and you’ll find yourself confronted with enormous problems you’re not equipped to solve. If anything kills confidence, it’s too out of your depth too quickly.

Confident people are those who do have a plan. They collect information, practice their skills, and get ready for potential challenges. This preparation gives them their confidence, as they know they’re sufficiently equipped to handle most hurdles and will only be met by worthy challenges.

So don’t try and become a master improviser (unless that’s your line of work!). Instead, focus on learning and growing in the background, so you’re always picking up new tips and tricks that you can use in your endeavors. You’ll feel empowered by that knowledge.

7.    Exercising

Exercising is often over-hyped as the one right way to solve all problems. While it isn’t a miracle cure, it’s also scientifically proven to have its fair share of benefits. When it comes to confidence, exercising gives you:

·         Positive Hormones

Feel-good hormones are released whenever you exercise that boost your positive thinking and make you feel happier and better about yourself. It’s a great way to lift your mood without using unhealthy or toxic habits quickly.

·         A Healthier Body and Appearance

Many confidence issues are tied to body image, and exercising can change the way you look. Even if you don’t wind up losing weight or reaching your “ideal” appearance, you’ll see remarkable changes in your posture, stamina, and strength that will make you feel more confident.

·         Openness To Challenge

Exercising is all about pushing your limits. The more you work out, the more comfortable you’ll feel with the concept of going above and beyond to improve yourself. This is sure to boost your confidence levels as you use those principles in all sorts of other areas in your life.

8.    Positive Sleep Routines

Getting enough sleep allows you to feel rested and alert the next day. You’ll make fewer mistakes, perform better in all areas of chores and work, and have a clearer head with more positive thinking in general.

Your routines should give you the right conditions to benefit from REM or the deep sleep cycle. This sleep phase is highly restorative and will make you feel much better when you wake up the next day. Sometimes, if you feel especially low in confidence, a good night’s rest is all you need to perk up again!

9.    Maintaining Good Posture

Have you ever noticed that people who have their backs straight, shoulders pushed back and down, chest puffed, and head straight look more confident? It’s not just a random impression – it’s because they genuinely are more confident.

Studies have found that individuals who sit up straight and maintain good posture aren’t just viewed more positively. They also feel better in general. As it turns out, the way you hold yourself and position your body changes your brain’s chemical activity.

Open postures and “power poses,” instead of closed and constricting postures, change the way your hormones move. You feel more energetic and become less stress reactive, and within just two minutes, you’ll feel better and much more confident. So straighten your back, put on good posture, and let your body work its magic.

10. Contributing and Volunteering

For many people, a sense of self-confidence is tied into feelings of self-worth. Though there are many ways you can raise your self-worth, one of the best and healthiest ways to do so is by performing acts of kindness. You can:

  • Volunteer for a cause you believe in
  • Do a favor for a friend, family member, colleague, or loved one
  • Pay someone a heartfelt, genuine compliment
  • Go out of your way to do something nice for a loved one
  • Donate to charity

Getting involved with good causes for a community benefits them and you at the same time. You feel good about giving to others, which boosts your self-esteem, and you can see the impact that your actions have on the world around you. Your positive thinking will skyrocket with your self-confidence all at once!

7 Ways To Break Free From Emotional Captivity (And How To Prevent It)

Have you ever felt trapped in your own mind? Do you often feel that your emotions control you, not the other way around? It’s a frightening and suffocating situation, but it’s one you don’t have to be defined by.

Being trapped in mental chains can be overwhelming, as you have to free yourself from bindings that you cannot see. But fret not: it can be done! Here are 7 ways to break free from emotional captivity, and how to prevent it at the same time.

1.    Release Cognitive Fusion

Cognitive fusion refers to a concept whereby you become “fused” with certain thoughts. This means that you start to feel as if you are your thoughts, preventing you from distancing yourself from negative things that enter your mind. This can mess with your sense of self and lead to decreased positive thinking, worsened mental disorder symptoms, and captivity in your emotions.

emotional captivityEmotions can come from anywhere, but they shouldn’t define you. When things go wrong, you need to make sure you view your thoughts as separate from you. Avoid saying things like:

  • I mess everything up!
  • I’m a failure!
  • I’m such an awful person!

These kinds of statements fuse your sense of self with what you feel, even when what you feel isn’t a real reflection of who you are. It’s a dangerous form of emotional captivity. Instead of using these sentences, try instead:

  • Wow, that was super embarrassing; I’d better learn from this!
  • I made a mistake, but I’m capable of fixing it!
  • I’m a good person, so I will apologize for what I did!

2.    Notice Your Patterns

Emotional captivity involves a series of cycles. It means trapping yourselves in the same situations again and again, often not realizing that they’re recurring. If you tend to always find yourself in specific predicaments even though everything else around you has changed, it’s time to look inward and see what your issues are. Pay extra attention if you often say:

  • Why do I never get the chance to…
  • This always happens!
  • Everyone always treats me like this.
  • No one ever lets me…
  • I just keep getting hurt all the time!

If your complaints today are the same ones you’ve had for years, pause. Look at yourself carefully. Why are these problems continually happening to you, even when the people in your life are different and you’re physically in a different place?

It hurts to acknowledge that you may be a part of your own problems. But even when your own role is one where you aren’t entirely responsible for your predicament, remember – these things are cycles. If you find yourself in a cycle, it’s time to think about how to get out.

3.    Be Kind To Yourself

Self-compassion is something often overlooked. People talk about self-care but neglect to realize that being kind to yourself is about more than just that.

When you are stuck in emotional captivity, you may find that you simply cannot be kind to yourself, no matter what you do. You talk down to yourself, you don’t cut yourself any slack, your expectations are high, and you forget that you’re a human being who makes mistakes.

Being kind to yourself is one of the most important parts of breaking away from the mental chains that hold you back, and science supports it. Here’s how self-compassion can help you free yourself from your emotional captivity:

·         Increased Happiness

When you’re kind to yourself, you are more likely to experience a positive mood, better happy characteristics, and even improved optimism. This includes improving your personal initiative, bravery in curiosity, and even your wisdom!

·         Stronger Resilience

Emotional captivity gets worse when you face adversity, which can further trap you in its clutches. Being compassionate to yourself can help you face your hurdles head-on, according to research, often resulting in faster emotional recovery from difficult events.

·         Better Body Image

For many, body image issues play a huge role in emotional captivity. Self-compassion can help reduce feelings of body shame and aid in the development of more positive views of your body. This may include appreciating your body more, being less obsessed with appearance, and being less concerned with weight.

·         Reduced Psychological Distress

Anxiety, depression, and even stress can add to the strain of emotional captivity. But studies show that being kind to yourself can reduce the severity of symptoms from these mental health issues.

·         Boosted Motivation

Breaking free from emotional captivity requires a desire to change and motivation to improve, and being kind to yourself can help improve that! Research has found that the positive thinking that comes from self-compassion can help people feel more motivated after experiencing failure.

·         Better Self-Worth

There are many factors that go into healthy self-esteem, but one of those factors is self-compassion. Studies have found that being kind to yourself can help you stay positive regarding yourself, even when directly faced with evidence of perceived imperfection or inadequacy.

While high self-esteem often depends on external circumstances and social comparisons, self-compassion comes from within. A 2011 study published in the Journal of Personality Psychology Compass reports that self-compassion allows you to continue feeling good despite instances of failure, perceived inadequacy, and imperfection.

pop quote4.    Limit Negative Thoughts

Have you heard of the concept of positive affirmations? The science behind them suggests that the more you tell yourself good things, the more you internalize and manifest that good in your life. As it turns out, that same concept applies to bad things, too.

It’s easy to get caught in cycles of negative thoughts, and it’s much harder than it seems to snap out of them. But research indicates that these types of cycles can result in negative outcomes for your mental and physical health, suggesting that positive thinking can do the opposite of that.

In other words, emotional captivity can be self-imposed, and it can also be self-fulfilling. Trapping yourself emotionally by repeatedly thinking only the worst thoughts can cause those thoughts to become true. Scary stuff! That’s why you need to limit your negative thoughts in order to free yourself from their trap-filled downward spiral.

5.    Detach Yourself In The Right Ways

You shouldn’t detach yourself from your emotions, from your truth, or from your goals in life, but there are some things that you should separate yourself from. Emotional captivity can often be further locked in when you put too much stock into certain unimportant factors. The trouble is that those unimportant factors can seem awfully important at first. Here are some things you should detach yourself from if you want to detach your mental chains:

·         What Others Think

People will always have something to say, no matter what you do. Determine whose opinions truly matter to you and start caring only about those. And, even with those special and lucky people, make sure you never consider their opinions more crucial than yours. It’s great to receive and learn from feedback, but you shouldn’t be controlled by others and their thoughts about you!

·         Material Things

It’s tough to deny that having nice things is fun, but they don’t mean anything in the long run. This isn’t to say you should commit to a minimalist lifestyle, though! It just means finding a balance between the things you own externally and what truly matters, which is what you have within you.

·         Fear

Fear is a part of life, and you can’t eradicate fear from your journey – but you can learn to detach yourself from it. Remember, bravery is not the absence of fear: it is about learning to find strength even when you are afraid. Understanding that fear shouldn’t control you is a powerful way to break free.

·         Resentment

Resentment and grudges can build up and tether you to old trauma. You don’t have to outwardly forgive someone to detach yourself from resentment. Simply decide that these people are in the past and that your energy is better spent on future endeavors, not on them. You deserve more than for those who hurt you to hold you back.

6.    Let Yourself Cry

Some people equate crying with weakness, but that’s not what it is at all. When you cry earnestly, especially when you sob your heart out and release your emotions, you’re letting go of stress and pain. It’s a positive, self-soothing behavior, and it can lead to mood lifts afterward.

Sometimes, you just need a good cry, and there’s no shame in that. Emotional captivity can be caused by holding in all of your feelings. Simply letting yourself sob as hard as you need to can be enough to help you feel better, and it’s a powerful first step out of your mental chains.

7.    Take Responsibility

Holding yourself accountable may be the most important step in freeing yourself from emotional captivity. Realizing that your entrapment is in your hands and that it is your responsibility to break out is tough, but it’s also necessary. Once you realize that the power lies with you, then only can you move forward. Here are some ways to take responsibility for the act of freeing yourself from emotional captivity:

·         Stop Blaming Others

Circumstances, people, and life situations can always cause some struggle in your life. But at the end of the day, you decide how you react to these situations. You can make the best of them, learn from them, and find ways to get out, or you can sit there and wallow. If you wallow for months or years, that’s on you!

·         Learn From Mistakes

Each mistake comes with lessons to learn. So learn them. Instead of letting errors suck you in further, recognize your part in those mistakes and learn how to prevent or avoid them in the future.

·         Be Aware Of Your Emotions

Getting caught in your emotions isn’t fun, but you can learn to stop this pattern. When you feel those negative emotions, learn to recognize them quickly, identify what triggered them, and find your way to resolve or manage those feelings in healthy ways.

·         Choose Differently

As we’ve mentioned multiple times, emotional captivity is about cycles. So the next time you find yourself in a cycle, choose to not continue it. Choose to do something different. Choose to learn, grow, and deviate from the well-worn path. Only you can make that choice, so take responsibility for it!
